Better with time... but not the best
My experience with these sheets are complicated. I had asked for a set of these sheets (flat, fitted, pillowcases) for Christmas and when I first touched them, my initial reaction was 'burlap'. I did some investigating and reviews said that they needed to be washed a couple of times for them to soften up. I washed and dried them 4 times back to back and while they were mildly softer, they still felt like burlap to me. Again, I still tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and put them on the bed. My husband loved them: he normally sweats through our sheets. I, on the other hand, was trying to stay as still as possible so I didn't scratch my skin off on these sheets. I actually got up in the middle of the night to go grab another blanket to wrap myself in so I wouldn't have to feel the sheets.
They have now been on our bed for a week and I have gotten used to them. I wouldn't say they're my favourite but I can tolerate them. I like the weight of them and they have a weird balance of warm but breathable (I have to sleep in the nude or I wake up too hot in the middle of the night - but I still don't sweat) I do think for $200 sheets that they could be much softer - I have spend less on the sheets that were much more comfortable. I'm sure it's a personal thing but if you like soft sheets - these are not for you.
