#breakfastinbedface Contest Winners

Steaming cups of coffee. Perfectly steeped tea. Seasonal fruits. Stacks of pancakes. Sizzling fry-ups. Baked goods fresh out of the oven. Mmmmmmm. Few things conjure such shared joy as breakfast foods and for many, the height of indulgence is carving out a slice of time to relax with breakfast in bed.

Recently, we challenged some of our favourite food bloggers to cozy up with their bedface sheets, whip up their ultimate breakfast in bed, and share the process with us. The results were beyond what we could have hoped for! Over the last few weeks we’ve been teasing some of the entries via social media, but we’re now delighted to announce winners of the 2016  #breakfastinbedface competition.

First place:

Annie Chu of Chu on This

Blog post: Attempting the Art of Breakfast in Bed

Recipe: Blueberry Oatmeal Cups

Annie’s gorgeous photos and ruminations on what makes ‘the idea of breakfast in bed so enticing’ made her post a stand out. She provided an engagingly written story complete with laugh out loud relatable humour. Her practical breakfast looked beautiful and yummy against her sheets. We loved how she spoke to the history and etiquette of breakfast and bed with honesty and curiosity. Congratulations Annie!

Runners up:

Nat & Tim Harris of A Cook Not Mad

Blog Post: Breakfast in Bedface

Recipe: Blackberry Ricotta French Toast with Blackberry Honey

Nat and Tim masterfully brought their blog post together around the colour blue. With talk of changing seasons and impending hibernation, the wintery hue was a great choice. The attention to detail in matching the breakfast display to sheets made for wonderfully eye-catching, memorable photos. Enough to make anyone want to jump right into bed and tuck in!

Dennis & May Pang of Pangcouver

Blog Post: Breakfast in Bed with @bedfacesheets bed sheets | #bedface

Recipe: Bacon and eggs, cranberry/orange scone, avocado toast, fig toast with ricotta and honey, yogurt and granola.

Hard not to drool when looking at this photo, right? Not only did the Pang’s show off a range of tempting tastes but their love of creating and enjoying meals together made for an engaging post. Their young family’s slow morning weekend routine was wonderful to read about and captured the spirit of breakfast in bed.

Congratulations to the runners up!

It was an absolute pleasure to read through such creative and diverse blog entries. We’d be remiss not to share other notable mentions.

The Healthy Foodie’s poached egg crispy quinoa cake brought gourmet decadence into the mix with a fine dining style experience.

A Certain Romance used the name of her sleep set as inspiration for her Sunny Side Up Mango Green Smoothie to great effect and reminded us that you don’t have to *like* mornings to start them right!

Raincouver Beauty’s avocado sleep set and avocado + egg breakfast sandwich combination resulted in drool worthy comfort food.

Peas & Peonies brought warmth and sweetness to the changing seasons with autumn flavours in her Pistachio Caramel Apple Butter Pancakes. Dessert for breakfast? We like your style!

Thank you to all the bloggers for participating in #breakfastinbedface. We now have more than enough encouragement to start brainstorming in the kitchen, and every excuse to defend slow mornings and quiet starts. Back to bed it is!
